Here is a short bio.
Vania Joloboff serves as Chief Technology Officer at Groupe Silicomp. He is in charge of business development in new areas such as Internet enabled appliances and embedded Linux.
Until its acquistion by Groupe Silicomp, Vania was Java Program Manager at The Open Group
Before OSF and X/Open merged to become The Open Group in 1994, Vania was Technical Director of the User Environment at OSF in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Vania has been responsible for OSF Motif development at OSF since its inception in 1989, as well as leader for other OSF initiatives in the user environment area.
Prior to joining OSF, Vania created and directed the Groupe Bull Research Center at Sophia Antipolis which produced the the XPM format, now a component library of the Common Desktop Environment; and the the GWM software, a popular freeware.
Vania Joloboff's technical expertise resides mostly in distributed systems, Internet, embedded systems, client/server architecture, programming languages, compound document architecture; and software engineering (development methodology, quality assurance).
Vania Joloboff has participated in the elaboration of X Consortium specifications and OSF specifications. He has been an accredited representative in various industry forums, such as IEEE, X/Open, the X Consortium, and more recently to the J-Consortium
Dr. Joloboff holds a doctorate degree from University of Grenoble and an engineering degree from Ecole des Mines(France). Dr. Joloboff has been in the past Assistant Professor at the University of Grenoble. Dr. Joloboff has published numerous papers in international conference proceedings and has co-authored two books.
