General questions about the Grenoble RI should be addressed to Marie Gargat ([email protected])
If you are interested in collaborating with the Grenoble RI, contact Jacques Febvre ([email protected]) who is the General Manager of the Grenoble laboratory.
You should try to fly to Lyon airport which is a one hour drive from Grenoble (Geneva is almost a two hour drive). There are flights to Lyon from most major European airports, including Heathrow, Brussels, Milan, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, Madrid, Munich as well as most large French cities.
Getting from Lyon Airport:
A sketch map indicates how to find the Grenoble RI when coming from either Lyon or Geneva.
Grenoble is located in the French Alps, about 90km south-east of Lyon and 140km south-west of Geneva. The city has 160,000 inhabitants, the metropolitan area about 400,000. There are approximately 40,000 students at Grenoble University and Engineering School . Grenoble also benefits from important high-tech industries: in addition to The Open Group, Bull, Hewlett-Packard, Sun, and Rank Xerox, among others, have R&D centres in the Grenoble area. In addition to the in-house advanced development programme, The Open Group Research Institute has links to IMAG, the University Research Institute for Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, and with other European Research Centres.
Grenoble is also an important scientific centre, and there are several international research laboratories, including the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) and the Institut Laue-Langevin.
You may obtain more information (much of it in French) about Grenoble and the surrounding region by consulting some of the other web servers in Grenoble. In particular, the University Computer Centre and the Grenoble Isre Dveloppement servers contain information (in French and English) on local industry, research and the environment.
Send comments, suggestions, and problem reports about this server to the Silicomp RI Webmaster.
